Mineralogy

Couch

In the three years we lived in Arizona, I never bought an authentic piece of stone jewelry.

While I don’t have many regrets in life, I would have to say that’s one of them. Scottsdale was lined with dozens of shops and if I didn’t feel like popping into those, I could’ve easily snagged something at an art festival. Yet, here I am empty-handed. Luckily for me, I’ve been given a second chance.

Mineralogy is a new studio in Chicago, offering a wide array of heirloom quality pieces that pay tribute to the natural beauty of gems and minerals. Owner and designer, Theresa Cowan, makes an annual trip down to – you guessed it – Arizona so that she can handpick each and every stone that goes into her collection. Sure, I may be thousands of miles away from the state I love most, but I’m just a few short blocks away from a table full of reminders. There’s an overwhelming sense of comfort in knowing this.

In addition to her gorgeous necklaces, bracelets, and rings, Theresa also carries a curated selection of personal products and home goods, all of which are produced by independent makers from across the country. Some of my personal favorites are Nanin and Herbivore Botanicals.

Both of these, including her entire jewelry line, will be on display at Soho House for Dose Market on Sunday, August 30th, as well as the Renegade Craft Fair running Saturday, September 19th through Sunday, September 20th. Speaking from experience, you won’t want to miss out.

  1. Oh man! I’ll miss the market! I’ll only be in town from the August 12-26th. But I love these pieces and the fact that she’s connected to AZ! I’ll have to visit the store while I’m there. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
